Why We Launched Women’s Socks
For the first part of the NicSocks journey I focused solely on men’s socks. I’m passionate about the fact that men don’t have as much choice as women do when it comes to fashion.
You can walk into any retail outlet and sift through a ton (a literal ton) of women’s fashion items. Then you can turn around and see the hidden, secret corner of men’s apparel that severely under caters for the audience it’s targeting. So I started a sock company aimed at men.
The truth is, from day 1 of NicSocks.com we’ve had a lot of women buy our socks. For themselves and for the men (and women) in their lives. We’ve also faced constant requests for sock designs specifically for women.
After months and months of refusing to admit that we should make women’s socks eventually I decided that we should bit the bullet and launch some socks.
This meant that we had to have the socks designed. I tried, very unsuccessfully, to design the socks myself. The truth is, I understand men and what they might want out of a sock design. I have absolutely no idea what a women would want out of a sock, at all, in any way, shape or form.
I needed help and it came in the form of Jackie Scala who put together three fantastic designs. Once we launched the women’s sock range I immediately knew it was the right decision. We had our single biggest day of sales thanks to the launch of our women’s sock range!
